PRIVATE INSTRUCTION
Sage Meadows offers one-on-one, private riding lessons in various disciplines including huntseat, jumping, western, dressage, and showmanship. We also believe in teaching our riders good horsemanship. This includes teaching proper horse handling, grooming, tacking, maintenance, equine anatomy and vocabulary, as well as equine vet and health care practices.
Teaching proper horsemanship not only prepares our students for horse ownership, but also teaches important life lessons of hard work, responsibility and the love of caring for animals.
LESSON LAYOUT
Lessons are 1 hour in length and are scheduled at least once per week. Some riders take multiple lessons per week and/or lease in addition to their weekly lessons.
We do not offer occasional horse rides or trail riding options.
Lessons begin and end with the grooming and tacking of the horse. During this time, students learn and practice proper horsemanship, horse psychology, and safety procedures. Once mounted, the rider works toward their individual goals with the assistance of an experienced and knowledgeable instructor.
COMPETITION
Many of our riders aim to compete in the show ring to demonstrate the skills they have mastered. Sage Meadows students have the opportunity to compete in various local shows throughout the year.
Students that desire to compete must ride in a minimum of 2 lessons per week or be involved in our leasing program. Students will be allowed to enter a show once they have mastered the skills necessary to safely compete at their current riding level.
